All about „TAPni sa“

How does it all work? What if you’re transferring? How much does it cost?
We’ve put it all together for you — just scroll down and tap with your eyes.

What is TAPni sa?

TAPni sa is the new name for the Kartuj service. It lets you travel by public transport without buying a ticket in advance — just tap your bank card, phone, or watch on the validator when boarding.

What type of ticket can I buy with TAPni sa?

By tapping your card on the validator, you’ll buy a basic 30-minute ticket. However, you can choose a 60-minute or 24-hour ticket on the validator’s screen. You must make your selection before tapping your card.

How much does a ticket cost when you tap your card?

The price is the same as for electronic tickets.

30-minute ticket: Basic €1.09; Reduced €0.55

60-minute ticket: Basic €1.60; Reduced €0.80

24-hour ticket: Basic €4.85; Reduced €2.43

What ticket do I get if I just tap without selecting a specific ticket?

A basic 30-minute ticket is automatically purchased for you.

I’m traveling longer than 30 minutes. Can I buy a different ticket through TAPni sa?

Yes, with TAPni sa you can also buy 60-minute and 24-hour tickets. Just select the desired ticket type on the validator’s screen. You can even extend your purchased ticket during your ride.

Do I have to tap every time I transfer?

No. You only tap when purchasing your ticket, usually when you first board. The ticket is transferable without restrictions for its validity period, so you don’t need to tap again when transferring. However, be sure to keep an eye on your ticket’s validity time.

Can I buy a reduced ticket through TAPni sa?

Yes, just select it on the screen before tapping and show your eligibility for the discount during inspection as usual.

Can I buy a ticket through TAPni sa for my co-travellers?

Yes, the new system allows you to purchase multiple tickets at once with a single payment card.

Does TAPni sa have a daily cap?

Yes. Once you reach the price of a 24-hour ticket (basic or reduced), you won’t pay any more for travel that day — you can ride without additional costs. However, you still need to tap in every time you board.

The daily cap is tied to the device used. For multiple taps in one day, you must always use the same card or smart device. The daily cap cannot be applied when purchasing tickets for fellow passengers.

Why was I charged more or less than the value of my ticket?

At your first tap of the day, the bank authorizes your card. This authorization includes a temporary hold on funds. The notification from your bank refers to this hold—it’s not an actual payment, just a reservation of funds on your account. The real payment amount is calculated during daily settlement. The hold amounts are set by the card networks:

Maestro – 4.80 €
Visa – 0.00 €
MasterCard – 1.20 €

On which routes does TAPni sa work?

A TAPni sa ticket is valid only on Dopravný podnik Bratislava routes (lines 1-199; N1-N99; X1-X99).

Does the validator issue a physical ticket after tapping?

No, a physical ticket is not issued. The ticket is stored directly on the card or smart device used to purchase it. You can verify your ticket purchase by pressing the „INFO“ button on the validator.

Can I view a record of my rides? Where can I get a tax receipt?

You can check your ride history and access your tax receipt at ecard.dpb.sk. If you want to keep track of your rides, you can create an account to see everything clearly organized.

How do inspectors verify purchased tickets?

During a ticket inspection, you need to present the card or smart device used to purchase the TAPni sa ticket to the inspector. The inspector’s reader then compares the card number with the system records. No data is written to or from the inspector’s reader during the inspection.

What should I do if the validator isn’t working?

If the nearest validator with the TAPni sa service on the vehicle is not working, passengers are required to tap at another validator. If there is no other working validator with TAPni sa on the vehicle, passengers should inform the driver upon arrival at the next stop and, in case of a ticket inspection, notify the inspector immediately.
